I see myself as a Designer, Philosopher, and Craftsman; as a child, I loved creating with Legos, Tinker Toys, and Lincoln Logs.

Growing up in Pasadena, California, I enjoyed Skateboarding, Surfing, Riding Motorcycles, and playing Piano.

Scott Sallinger_Sunnyboy

I started my first business while I was still in high school, Sunny Boy Designs, providing handyman services and carpentry work.

As my business grew, I included home remodeling, and I hired highly skilled craftsmen to help with the projects and teach me different contracting skills.

While attending college for psychology, I applied my piano skills and joined a band, 54 East, that regularly played clubs on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood.

As a songwriter, I was curious about the world around me, relationships, and my personal growth. This led me to regularly Journal my thoughts, ideas, and experiences.

With a successful remodeling business and refined carpentry skills, I began to experiment with furniture making.

I showed my furniture at art shows and street fairs throughout Los Angeles, providing me with the insights and inspiration to create additional space-saving designs.

As part of the art community, I was elected Vice President of the Monrovia Arts Association and worked with the local schools to create the first After-School art Program in the area.

My success led to collaborating with City officials and artists to create the monthly Art Walk, where local artists demonstrated and showcased their work.

With business partner Steve Tobia, I opened a lifestyle store showcasing home decor and handcrafted art made by local artists.

Our LA-based Store, Environs, was the ideal place to sell my furniture designs and introduce my first collection of corner furniture, Cornerture.

With a desire to grow my design skills, I moved to San Francisco and attended the Academy of Arts for 3D modeling and Industrial Design.

While in school, I designed, developed, and locally manufactured my Cornerture Modular System which was awarded “Most Wanted Space Saver ” by Cal Home Magazine.

To promote my business and help people make better choices with their homes, I produced a series of How-to videos on various home design topics.

This led to speaking engagements, presentations, media Interviews, and an invitation to appear on the Christopher Lowell Show.

With some success in selling Cornerture in San Francisco furniture stores, I wanted to expand and reach customers throughout the country.

I achieved this by partnering with a national furniture company that manufactured the Cornerture Corner Shelf and sold it in various Costco stores.

While continuing to design retail furniture pieces, I focused my efforts on providing Custom Built-in cabinets for customers in San Francisco.

Working with nearly 1000 clients and their homes, I developed a deeper understanding of how people live and their struggles.

This inspired me to explore, not only space solutions, but home life solutions, and the way people live and relate to their stuff.

From the insights and experience I gathered, I wrote my first book, ‘Are U Home’. A fun exploration into the choices we make for our home life.

Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in collaborating on a project!
